Friday 30 June: Arrival London
Morning arrival into London airport. After customs formalities meet our professional guide and transfer into central London. Enroute to our hotel we have included a panoramic sightseeing tour which passes: Buckingham Palace including the changing of the guard (if held), Big Ben, Houses of Parliament Westminster Abbey, Piccadilly Circus, the BA London Eye and Trafalgar Square. Afternoon at leisure. Check-into the Britannia Docklands Hotel. Welcome dinner.
Saturday 1 July: London
Morning transfer into London for a tour through the financial district, past the Bank of England, Tower Bridge, St.Paul’s Cathedral and concluding with a guided tour of the Tower of London and Crown Jewels. We then transfer to Covent Garden for free time for lunch. We board a River Thames boat for a cruise along the River Thames passing many of London’s famous landmarks. We conclude at the BA London Eye where we include a “flight”. The BA London Eye is the world’s highest observation wheel and gives superb views over London during the 30 minute “flight”. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the Britannia Docklands Hotel.
Sunday 2 July: London-Oxford-Stratford-Coventry
Depart London today and we transfer to Oxford, “the City of Dreaming Spires” whose origins go back 1000 years and its streets are dominated by the stone walls of the colleges. Here enjoy a walking tour with admission to Christ Church which is Oxford’s largest college, re-founded by Henry VIII in 1546. The Great Hall in Christ Church was used as a double for Hogwarts School in the Harry Potter films. Later we continue to the charming market town of Stratford upon Avon, home of William Shakespeare with its half timbered buildings. During our tour here we visit Shakespeare’s birthplace. Overnight at the Britannia Birmingham Hotel.
Monday 3 July: Royal Show Coventry
We transfer to the The Royal Show today (http://www.royalshow.org.uk/index.html). Europe’s largest outdoor international agricultural exhibition, is a key event in the British summer calendar. On an outdoor showground of approximately 100 hectares, the Show welcomes an audience each year of around 148,600, over four days, including many thousands of international visitors from over 100 countries. Return to accommodation late afternoon/early evening. Overnight at the Britannia Birmingham Hotel.
Tuesday 4 July: Royal Show Coventry
We transfer for another full day at the The Royal Show today. Return to accommodation late afternoon/early evening. Overnight at the Britannia Birmingham Hotel.
Wednesday 5 July: Coventry-Albrighton-Chester
Morning transfer to Humpreston Farm in Albrighton Shropshire for a farm visit. From Humpreston we continue north to Chester with a possible afternoon farm or club visit in North West England or North Wales. Overnight Chester at Hoole Hall Hotel.
Thursday 6 July: Chester-Penrith
Morning visit to local farm or club in the Chester or North Wales area. Afternoon drive up to Penrith, passing the famous Lake District,
inspiration to many writer’s and poets overnight accommodation at the University of Central Lancashire. Overnight at the Crooklands Hotel Kendal.
Friday 7 July: Penrith-Alnwick-Edinburgh
Depart the Lake District for Edinburgh via Alnwick Castle. This Mighty fortress is the second largest inhabited castle in England after Windsor Castle and has been the home of the Percy’s, Earls and Dukes of Northumberland since 1309. The Castle grounds were used as the location of some of Hogwarts exteriors in the Harry Potter films as well as being used for various television productions and films over the years including Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. Here we will enjoy a fully guided tour. Continue to Edinburgh where we check in to the Rothesay Hotel.
Saturday 8 July: Edinburgh
We include an Edinburgh sightseeing tour this morning. With its striking medieval and Georgian districts overlooked by the extinct volcanic rock of Arthur’s Seat Edinburgh is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most handsome capitals. During our tour we see the Royal Mile and visit the Palace of Holyrood House, the Queen’s official residence when staying in Edinburgh and finally we tour Edinburgh Castle. We transfer out to nearby Kelso this for a visit to Kennetsideheads Farm. Return to Edinburgh. Included farewell dinner this evening with traditional Scottish entertainment including Highland Dancers, singers and bagpipes. Overnight at the Rothesay Hotel.
Sunday 9 July: Departure
Morning departure to Glasgow airport for your return flight to Canada.
